Dolly's Success Story

People say it was so nice that we adopted "rescued" Dolly, really she rescued me. Recently we had to make that hard decision to let my 26 year old mare go, after having her for 23 years. The last 6 weeks have been very difficult to go out to the barn. For some reason I was checking Triple R Rescue website and there she was "Dolly. I instantly knew I had to meet her. We have now had her for just under two weeks. Dolly is also going to be having a baby in approximately one month. She is your typical pregnant mare in she is loving one minute and moody the next. She gives me reason again. We totally love her and can't wait to see her baby. I can't thank the rescue enough for saving her and allowing her to be a part of our family. Everyday she gets more used to get pampered life. She loves to play in her automatic waterer, and she will stand under the mist system when it's on. We had a small victory with her today. Bath in the wash rack well maybe not in the rack but at least close to it. The little mini is her new best friend Titan. Thank you and I will be sure and share her story when the foal arrives.

Chica’s Success Story

 By Dawne Britney

I had the privilege of meeting Michelle Cameron on July 8th up at Triple R Horse Rescue.  Five years ago Michelle adopted her first horse from Triple R – a 10 year old bay Appendix mare named Chica.  And they both hit the jackpot!

Next month will mark one year with Lenore! She is such a fun little donkey! What is interesting is that the time we were contacted about her, unfortunately we were in the midst of losing our beautiful German Shepherd Raja.....he passed away on June 13th and we committed to her the next day.

It was hard to lose a beloved dog then agree to take on another animal, but it helped fill the void. Lenore was helpful in that. Then In February of this year, I had to put my beloved horse down, Tessa, whom I'd had for 18 years....she was just about to turn 24 years old. Because of an old injury 10 years ago, it finally caught up with her, and she was unable to get up anymore on her own....to say the least, that was and still is very tough.

That left Caitlin, our 28 year old Trakehner, extremely sad and anxious as Tessa was her best friend. Lenore once again, helped everyone heal. Caitlin and Lenore are out together sometimes, but there is still a bit of chasing and scaring going on! So for now, as long as we have Caitlin, we have two very happy animals. When I lose Caitlin, then that will be another journey I will have to pursue.....finding another companion for Lenore.

Lenore has been our little Angel......
