Miniature Horses Arrive At Cave Creek Rescue, Up For Adoption

Ponies generally have heavy bones, thick, broad bodies and thick necks. Miniature horses, on the other hand, are slimmer and have relatively long legs for their size. Unlike ponies, the heads and feet of miniature horses are proportionate to their bodies. Smaller than many breeds of pony, miniature horses look like scaled-down versions of their full-size cousins.

Miniature horses, which can live between 25 and 35 years, have become very popular.

Some are even used as assistance animals.

Triple R Horse Rescue is a 501(c)3 organization that rescues, rehabilitates and re-homes horses surrendered to its care. Run completely by volunteers, the organization has a great track record. They have re-homed more than 100 horses over the past three years.

Triple R Horse Rescue is located at the Lil Bit North Ranch, 6206 East Rockaway Hills Dr. in Cave Creek. They are hosting an open house Saturday, from noon until 2 p.m.

Those interested in adopting the tiny horses can make an appointment by calling Christy Leggett at 480-243-2154.
